The global economy is changing. Current jobs are disappearing due to automation and new jobs are emerging every day as a result of technological advances.
Employer demand for STEM qualifications and skills is high, and will continue to increase in the future. Currently 75 per cent of jobs in the fastest growing industries require workers with STEM skills. To be competitive, the Ghanaian workforce needs people who can adapt to a changing workplace.
STEM empowers individuals with the skills to succeed and adapt to this changing world.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and, Mathematics. It is not about teaching these four subjects separately. It is an approach to teaching that connects these subjects to solve real-world problems.
Instead of just memorizing facts from textbook, students use hands-on activities to understand how the world works.

In a traditional classroom, a teacher writes the definition of "irrigation" on the blackboard, and the children copy it down.
In a STEM School, the teacher takes the children to a STEM Lab and use local materials to build a simple drip-irrigation system to keep the school garden watered.
